Toastmasters Teaches Public Speaking Skills in Hendersonville, North Carolina

I joined Winter Park Toastmasters in Florida when I was a young man.  I had read and studied "How To Be Successful"  books enough to understand that public speaking skill was a fast track to making more money.  https://winterparktoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

At the time, I had just left my first "real job" after college as an automobile salesman.  I had just graduated from real estate school.

Selling real estate is about doing excellent presentations.  No one told me that learning to be a good public speaker will make you better at one on one presentations.  It will.

Enhance your career.  Join Toastmasters
With in four years, I was working for a real estate franchise as a sales trainer.  Everything I learned at Toastmasters enhanced my career, boosted my confidence and raised my income.   https://www.toastmasters.org/   If you are interested in advancing your career, you can find very few skills that will enhance your paycheck faster than learning to be an excellent public speaker.  You will find no avenue that will make you an excellent public speaker better than joining your local Toastmaster club.

Flashback in time.  As I looked at Winter Park Toastmasters website page (link above) for the first time in my life two minutes ago, I saw Blake Smith and Andy Brown in a picture of  "Distinguished Toastmasters" in their club.  When Blake joined Winter Park Toastmasters in the early ninties, he was a termite inspector.  Why would a termite inspector need public speaking skill?  In Toastmasters he met, Kim Glaner that worked for Motorola.  Now, Blake is an executive at Motorola.  Also in that picture is Andy Brown, the head instructor at the biggest best real estate school in Florida.  I know that the groundwork for both those careers was created at Toastmasters.

Maybe weekly Toastmaster meetings are not the best way for you to learn to be a good public speaker.  http://fourseasonstoastmasters.com/    If you think it might be and if you live anywhere near Hendersonville, North Carolina, join us on Wednesday morning at eight.  You can spend the results.

Toastmasters Will Teach You To Think and Respond Quickly

Last night, I was sitting up watching C-Span.  There was a "town hall" meeting on concerning the Parkland, Florida school shooting.  This meeting was in Broward county Florida.

They had several state politicians and local politicians.  Citizens and students asked questions.  It was obvious that most of the politicians were overwhelmed by the questions.  They had no answers. Since the purpose of the meeting was to make the politicians look good, this meeting was a failure.

Learning public speaking skills is easy at Toastmasters
I am a member of a local Toastmasters club.  We teach our members public speaking  skills.  What great skills to learn.  One of the exercises that we do every week at Toastmasters is called "table topics".  This works like this.  The table topic master asks a question and calls on a member to answer that question.  The question may be something like,"What have you learned this week?".  The purpose of this exercise is to learn to think quickly and respond quickly.  What a great skill to learn!  It is hard to learn this skill without practice.

In business, you are are often asked to answer a question RIGHT NOW.  Your answer may determine whether or not you make this sale or get this account.  Thinking quickly and answering quickly and confidently will make you money.

If you live near Hendersonville, North Carolina, join us on Wednesday morning at eight o'clock. www.fourseasonstoastmasters.com  In a couple of years, you will be an excellent public speaker.  This skill will go straight into your wallet.

The Easy Way To Learn Presentation Skills in Hendersonville, North Carolina

Good public speaking skills will do more good for your career than any other single skill that you can learn.  The ability to speak to a group from a podium is not hard to learn.

Most people spend their entire career with a fear and no experience in public speaking.  I believe that this is true because most people have no idea what a valuable skill public speaking is.

Fear of public speaking is the number one fear in America.  One reason this is true is because most people have zero experience with standing in front of a small group of people and speaking to them.  All of their fear comes from their imagination.

Many people imagine that the audience will not like me.  They imagine that the audience will not smile at me.  They imagine that the audience won't accept me.  All of this is in their imagination, not reality.  They have no experience to verify or disprove their imaginary experience.
Public Speaking Skills will enhance your career

Wouldn't it be great if there were a venue where a rookie speaker or a speaker wannabe could get experience and training in a safe, comfortable environment?   If there were such a place, would you be interested in learning to be an excellent speaker?

There is such a place.  It is your local Toastmasters club.  www.toastmasters.org   There is a Toastmasters club in your city.  Why should you join?  Why indeed?   You should join because the only purpose of Toastmasters is to teach their members speaking and leadership skills.  It is not a class that you take over six weeks.  It is a club you can participate in for as long as it benefits you.  I have been a member for twenty eight years.  The dues are $120 per year.  The return on your investment is ten thousand per cent.

If you spent a couple of years in a Toastmasters club, you would develop extraordinary speaking skills.  What could you do with that skill?  I can tell you what I did with it.  After four years in Toastmasters, I tripled my income.  I never went back to my old mediocre income.  Today, I earn my living standing in front of a room teaching people to change their life.  www.firstrealestateschool.com    Joining Toastmasters was a good decision for me.  Joining Toastmasters would be a good decision for you.

Eliminate Fear Using These Five Tips

"And I was afraid and I went and hid thy talent in the earth; lo. there thou hast what is thine"  Mathew 25 , 25.  Mathew 25, "The Parable of The Talents" is my favorite Bible story.  The first servant took what his lord trusted him with and doubled it in the marketplace.  The second servant did likewise.  The third servant, the villain of the story, was afraid.  He was fearful.  He did not use the money, the talent, that his lord had trusted him with.  HE WAS AFRAID.

The first thing that you have to do to eliminate fear is to admit that you are afraid.  Admit it to yourself.  You do not have to tell anyone else.

Ask yourself this question," Other than fear, what would prevent me from...."

     Calling that prospect
Asking that person for a date
     Attending that first meeting

Admit that you are afraid.  Once you admit that you are fearful, how can you get yourself to do what ever you need to do in spite of your fears?    Start.  "Do the thing you fear.  Fear will disappear"  Some famous person said that.  Can you think of a hundred things that you used to be afraid to do that evoke not one ounce of fear today?   Surely you can.   Remember swimming across the pool for the first time.   If you are afraid to call prospects, call one anyway.  Then call another.

Practice.  Practice.  Practice.  As I was writing this article, I Googled the word fear.  A quote from Bruce Lee, the greatest martial artist ever, came up.  The quote was, "I fear not the man that has practiced 10,000 kicks.  I fear the man that has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

If you want to eliminate fear, practice until you are  so good at what you do that you could not possibly mess it up.  You could do this with one recipe.  You could do this with one presentation.  You could do this with one skill.

If you are a salesman, you could practice your prospecting phone call every day on 25 strangers.  It would not take long until you were goooooooood on the phone.  You would probably overcome your fear of calling strangers on the phone.
Do the thing you fear.  Fear will disappear.

Another favorite Bible story is David and Goliath.   When David went out to fight the giant Goliath, he did not go to fight him in hand to hand combat.  He did not go to fight Goliath with a club or a sword.  He went to fight Goliath with a weapon that he had been practicing with for many years.  David slung a rock from thirty feet away.  Do what you are good at.  You get good by practicing.

Hang around with people that are not fearful.  Who you associate with affects your fear.  If every one else is jumping off the high diving board, it must be an OK thing to do.  Once you do it, you know it is an OK thing to do.  Maybe you would not have jumped if your comrades were afraid.

When I was in college, we went to a sink hole in Pinellas county Florida to go scuba diving.  When we got out in the woods to this sink hole there were about twenty 12 year olds jumping out of a forty foot tree.  There were wooden steps nailed to the tree that went up to a little platform made out of two 2x4s .  These little kids were  lined up climbing up the little wooden steps and jumping into the water.  It looked scary to me.  It looked scary to my classmates.  When that little six year old girl climbed up and jumped, I knew I had to go.  When I hit the water, I went so deep I did not think I would have enough breath to get back to the surface,  I had to go again.  Do the thing you fear.  Fear will disappear.

Remind yourself constantly that the other people you encounter are fearful also.  Why do you have to introduce yourself to that stranger at the convention?  The answers is because he is afraid to introduce himself to you.  Speak first.  It is called leadership.

Remember the parable of the talents.  The third servant did not live up to the expectations of his boss.  Remind yourself that someone else has trusted you to do this thing.  Someone else thinks you can do it.  What do they know that you do not know?  They know that you have talent and ability and charm and wit and skill.  Recognize your own skill.  If your boss thinks you can go close that deal, he is probably right.  If your boss did not believe in you, she would not have sent you.  It cost the company $$$$$$ to send you.

The next thing that comes your way that causes you fear, do it.  Eliminating fear will change your life. Admit your fear.  Start.  Practice. Practice. Practice.  Associate with winners.  Remember someone else trusts you.  Speak first.  www.fourseasonstoastmasters.com

Toastmasters, One Thing You Will Surely Learn There

Toastmasters is a club created in 1927  to help people learn to speak better in public.  I often hear amateur speakers that sorely need to improve their public speaking skills.  I hear them at different functions where they have been invited to speak.  Almost always, they are there to promote some product or service that they represent.

The number one, first, foremost mistake that these amateur speakers make is to talk longer than they have been invited to talk.  The leader or sales manager asked them to speak for five minutes.  They talked for twelve minutes.  That may not seem like a big deal.  It is a big deal.  It is the kind of thing that causes that person to NOT be invited back.  Mr. Sales Manager has an agenda.  He has allocated five minutes for Mr. Promoter.  When Mr. Promoter drones on for twelve minutes, something else has to be cut short or the meeting has to run overtime.

This is just one of a dozen mistakes that I witness amateur speakers make at meetings all the time.  These people don't seem to realize that increasing their skill at presenting will increase their income.  Doing what they are doing works reasonably well.  Why do they need to improve?   $$$$$$$$$$ is the answer.

Where can a person go to increase their public speaking skills?  In Hendersonville, North Carolina anyone can visit Four Season Toastmasters.  Four Season Toastmasters is a club designed to make you a better speaker and a better leader. These are two skills that will quickly turn into money . http://fourseasonstoastmasters.com/

One thing that you will learn at Toastmasters is to speak as long as you said you were going to, not longer.  No one wants to hear you speak for ten minutes when they were expecting a five minute talk.  The sales manager that invited you to his thirty minute sales meeting  certainly does not want a surprise.

This is one of a hundred skills and lessons that you will learn at Toastmasters.  Many people come to Toastmasters because they have a fear of public speaking.  Many more people come to increase their skill.  There is no easier way to increase your public speaking skill that a visit to your local Toastmaster club.

Betty McCallister has used her Toastmaster skills to enhance her real estate career

Then there is me.  I joined Toastmasters thirty years ago because I read in a book that joining Toastmasters would make me a better salesperson.  I had just started my real estate career and it made sense to me.  Today, I am certain that much of my income has come to me from what I learned at Toastmasters.  Maybe, I would have learned these things anyway.  I doubt it.

People join Toastmasters for a dozen different reasons.  They all boil down to self improvement.  There is not much that affects your success more than who you associate with.  The one thing that all Toastmasters have in common is a desire to be better and teach others to be better.  You can't go wrong associating with people like that.
