A Cool Mororcycle Destination In Bostic, North Carolina

     Often when you go out to enjoy riding your motorcycle in the Carolinas, you like to have a destination.  A destination just puts a little definition to the day.


     It is ok to go ride with no particular destination in mind.  Having a destination is just better.  A destination also creates a "maximum" to the day.

     If you live in Charlottte or or Spartanburg or Greenville, South Carolina or  Hendersonville or Asheville or Hickory, North Carolina and if seventy miles is a desirable length for an afternoon stroll, here is a suggestion.

  You can decide for yourself if you ride to the distillery.  They will give you a sample. http://craftdistillerytours.com/city/bostic-8542/listing/blue-ridge-distilling/  Between Rutherfordton and Interstate 40 on highway 64 there is a state road 226.  Head east on highway 226 from Hiway 64 for four miles.  You will see a sign that tells you to turn right here to get to the distillery.  It is not a big sign.  Keep a sharp eye out for it.

Harley Davidson of Chimney Rock is NOT the largest Dealer in Carolina

         

     When you go home, go home by a different route.  I don't need to tell you that.  You know that.  If you are from the south, follow highway 74 A out of Rutherfordton.  Go through Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.  Did you know there is a Harley Dealer in Chimney Rock?  https://www.facebook.com/chimneyrockhd     If you are headed north towards Asheville or Swananoa stay on Hiway 74 A when you leave Chimney Rock, the next town is  Bat Cave.  www.chimneyrockpark.com

From Bat Cave, North Carolina to Asheville is 22 exciting miles

  If you like "motorcycle roads", you will love Hiway 74 A between Bat Cave, North Carolina and Interstate 40.  It does not get much better than this.  As you come into the community of Fairview, keep your eye out for Brewskie's.  It is right on Hiway 74 A.  Stop in and have a cold beer at a real biker bar.

  If you are headed south toward Spartanburg, or Greenville, South Carolina, leave Chimney Rock head on into Bat Cave and then into  Hendersonville on Hiway 64.  A road like this is why we love bikes  When you get to Hendersonville, don't get on that interstate.  Stay on Hiway 64.  Cross Interstate 26 and go into downtown Hendersonville.  Turn left on Main Street. Follow Main Street to U.S. 176 and take U.S. 176  into Saluda.  The oldest grocery store in North Carolina is in Saluda.  They also have public rest rooms at the park in the middle of town.  Leave Saluda on U.S. 176 head down the steepest grade in the eastern United States toward Tryon, North Carolina  .Ride with caution.  Forget the view. Let your passenger enjoy the view.  Keep both eyes on the road and both hands on the handlebars.    About halfway down the mountain you will see a sign for Pearson Falls.   http://www.pearsonsfalls.org/ 
If you have never seen Pearson Falls, it is worthwhile to stop. Pay the two dollars.  Walk a half mile and see it.  Take your camera.
     At the bottom of the mountain on U.S. 176 is Tryon North Carolina.  When you get to the state line between Tryon and Landrum, South Carolina, there is Bird Mountain Wine and Liquor.  Stop in and say hello to Ken.  Tell him about today's adventure.  He will let you use his clean rest room.  He also has Defiant Whiskey if you forgot to buy some at the distillery.  If you are headed south into South Carolina, you can also remove your helmet but Sir Issac Newton does not recommend that. Now, you are officially in South Carolina, you can keep going south on U.S. 176 until you pass Campobello and Inman.  Something will start to look familiar.  This is  a good day.  Remember; A bad day riding a motorcycle is better than a good day at work.

Drink Some Google Juice, It Is Healthy

     What is Google juice?  The first time I ever heard that word was in 2009.  An acquaintance told me that my business was in severe need of some Google juice.  I, of course, asked what was Google juice.  He explained to me that Google juice is to your business what spinach is to Popeye the sailor man.

Mother's Showtime Car Wax is Incredible

South Carolina Real Estate License How To Get One

     To get a South Carolina real estate license, you have to attend real estate school at a South Carolina real estate school.  The basic real estate course is sixty hours long.  You can take it at night, two nights a week,  or your can take your basic real estate class in eight day sessions.  You can take this class at Palmetto Real Estate School in Spartanburg or Greenville or Myrtle Beach.  The tuition for this basic real estate course is $425.  You can contact Palmetto Real Estate School at 864 505 4090 or check their website at wwwpalmettorealestateschool.com

Antiques Motorcycles Need Special Mecahnics In Carolina

     When you need a repair done to your antique motorcycle, you need a special mechanic.  When my 1961 Harley Davidson Super 10 would not start, I had to find a mechanic that knew what a Super 10 is.  My first phone call was to East Coast Cycles in Forest City, North Carolina.  Billy told me he did not really know "Hummers".  http://www.eastcoastcyclesnc.com/

     Taking your antique motorcycle to the repair shop is not the same as taking a modern bike to the shop.       The shop looked like 1961. I wrote my name and phone number on a piece of paper.  I felt comfortable leaving my 54 year old bike at Chesnee Classic Cycles.

     I went back today to pick it up.  It fired up on the second kick.  As we loaded it in the truck, Randy told me that he was proud to work on my antique bike.  I told Randy, if it needs any more work, I will be back to Chessnee Classic Cycles.
